Ronnie Wood staying off booze with help from celebrity pals

Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood has been staying off the booze with a little help from his celebrity pals.

Wood, 62, has been battling an addiction to alcohol and said he was afraid he’d end up back in rehab when he was given anti-craving drugs.

But his bandmate Mick Jagger and friends Sir Elton John and Rod Stewart have reportedly been helping him by offering words of support.

According to UK newspaper The Sun, he said to a friend: “Now I know everyone’s behind me, I’m desperate to give up for good. Mick Jagger calls me every few days.”

The source added: “He is doing really well.”

Ice Cube Collaborates with Dr. Dre

Ice Cube is planning to reunite with his former NWA band mate Dr. Dre on his upcoming album ‘I Am the West’. The rapper explained on his blog “I wanna answer a few questions you have for ya’ boy – Beats by Dre? Not yet. Haven’t asked him, but I will. Any collabos? Not yet. I would give you guys the concept but I’mma save that and let you see it for yourself. Now I know it seems like my record is West Coast crazy- Yeah it is. But I got a lot of real s**t to say on this record just like I always do. So my political fans won’t be disappointed.” It doesn’t sound like it’s set in stone yet so don’t hold your breath.

I was really upset to find out last year that Beastie Boys rapper Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch was diagnosed with salivary gland tumor but I’m happy to report that he is now on his way to making a full recovery. Now that he’s well, the band is ready to start working on their new album ‘Hot Sauce Committee, Part 1’, which was postponed indefinitely after Adam’s diagnosis. Adam said “I feel better. It was touch and go there for a while, but I am finally getting my energy back. It was really disappointing to have to hold the record and postpone the tour, but doctor’s orders. We may or may not [release the album] depending on how my health is come September. We want to but we have to play it by ear… We finished the record over a year ago, so we want to take a look at it and re-evaluate and make sure it is what we want to put out there and that we are still happy with it. I don’t think we will change it up too much.”

Susan Boyle is moving out of Scotland and is heading to London. The singer has been freaked out ever since her West Lothian home was broken into so the YouTube sensation has finally decided to give into her label’s request and move to London. An insider said “She has now agreed to move to a place in the city, where she’ll stay when busy working. The flat will be cat-friendly, so she can take Pebbles too.” It’s good that she’s focusing more on her security now rather than comfort. At the very least she has some sort of security blanket with her in the form of her cat.

Sparklehorse Singer Commits Suicide

Mark Linkous, the singer/songwriter from the band Sparklehorse committed suicide this past Saturday. The musician was only in his early 40s. He released and produced a number of highly acclaimed albums over his career, including Sparklehorse’s 2001 album ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. Mark’s family released a statement on Saturday, saying “It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There’s a heaven and there’s a star for you.” RIP.
