Eighties pop idol Paul Young is working as a part-time chef in the restaurant run by his ex-wife and the man she left him for.

The singer, 52, is famed for his love of cooking and came fourth on Britain’s reality show Hell’s Kitchen last year.

Paul, who racked up 14 top 40 singles like Love of the Common People and Wherever I Lay My Hat, was spotted serving up Cajun specials to a crowd of just 50 people at the Upstairs restaurant in north London.

He chatted with diners and posed for pictures in between rustling up dishes such as barbecue shrimp and vegetarian nut cutlet.

Paul’s 20-year marriage to ex Stacey ended when she fell for company director Ilan Slazenger two years ago.

A pal said: “Paul and Stacey have remained firm friends. He’s thrilled to be working in the restaurant because he loves cooking.” Evidently, wherever Paul lays his chef’s hat, he’s at home.

Androgynous rebel singer Sinead O’Connor has come out of her 1992 time capsule to play a show in Australia this week. Seriously, where has she been for the last decade or so? According to her website, Sinead actually retired from her singing career back in 2003 to pursue another career – advice giving. Obviously, her new choice of career didn’t take off as she’s back to singing. I’m sure the fans, the few that are left of them, are so glad that she’s back. I have a question though. What is she going to be singing to her fans when she doesn’t have new material? All of her old stuff are, well… old.

Sinead O’Connor on Kylie Minogue

Sinead O’Connor recently spoke to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph and she has some interesting thoughts on Australian singer Kylie Minogue. She says “I really can’t stand Kylie’s music at all. I know Australian fans might want to shoot me for saying this, but that would be a far better option than to listen to one of her albums. She was on Irish television recently. I couldn’t bear it and had to turn it off.” Not all people can stand Kylie’s music but I doubt they all would choose to be shot down instead of listening for five minutes. Sinead’s just jealous because she doesn’t have a career anymore.

Sinead O’Connor Christmas

Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus – those are two names that you would expect to spread some Christmas cheer. But would you ever expect that of Sinead O’Connor?

The former pop star was spotted when she popped up at the Pogues annual holiday concert in Dublin, Ireland where she sang ‘Fairytale of New York’. Aah. Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday when she was on ‘Saturday Night Live’ ripping up pictures of the Pope? But that was 15 years ago. Now, Sinead Marie-Bernadette O’Connor is a separated mother of four who chooses to perform every so often. It looks like she still has a bald head though.
