It looks like I’m not alone in the dislike of U2’s latest single ‘Get on Your Boots’ as the song made its official debut last week but it finds itself at a sad number 37 spot on the iTunes singles chart. On the flip side, Kelly Clarkson’s ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ which also debuted last week is currently at the top spot. When did you ever think that a pop tart could actually best some iconic rock giants? I certainly never did. Moreover, I never expected an American Idol to beat out U2. If it was Madonna, I would have understood easier.

George Michael has reportedly signed a multi-million dollar deal to write a so-called no holds barred autobiography. HarperCollins will release the book and the publishing company said that the controversial singer will write the tell-all autobiography entirely by himself. Really? Will he spill the beans on his sexual compulsivity too? He better not do any sugarcoating now! I want the dirt!
The singer’s manager Andy Stephens said that “George has promised HarperCollins a no-holds-barred biography, and it’s certain to be just that. People aren’t stupid, they’re beginning to notice that the truth is more interesting than the stories the press come up with.”

The biggest tell all that you’re a diva is when your life is chosen to be turned into a musical. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Tina Turner.
The musical ‘Simply the Best’ is currently aiming for a London debut with a stint on Broadway to follow. The show will feature Tina’s music and will really be about Tina in general. The musical is said to paint the late music legend Ike Turner in a very negative light. Well how else would you portray her ex-husband who beat hear and was a cokehead, like he’s the greatest person to ever walk the earth?

You know how you watch people on television and wanna be like them, and someone else always says that it’s not always how it looks? Well, that’s the truth when it comes to Britney Spears in her new Piece of Me video.Hey, the girl’s not fat by any means, but she’s not her previously toned hot-body either. She must be feeling the post-baby body blues because word has it that there was some doctoring up of the video to slim her down after production. Check out YouTube and plenty of other gossip rags to find pics and video to show it.
Brit – you wanna make a comeback so comeback as yourself. Don’t try and fool us into thinking you’re still at your best; but first, find the sleaze that released these pics and show him who the real fool is.

Van Halen tour Blast from the Past just concluded with their LA concert. Many many fans showed up, old Van Halen fans and new fresh ones. I never thought the quite old rock band still had it in them.
Not only did they drew a magnificent crow, but also their performance exceeded expectations. Eddie’s revival is a phenomenon that goes well ahead of his toned body.
His performance brought up to present so much nostalgia for everyone present. He wearing his usual concert outfit, tearing up the stage in their usual matter, full of energy just like in 1978 when they debuted, was a marvel in itself.

Duran Duran throwing down with Timbaland? Creamed jeans are made of this! The New Wave legends just became eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (cough) and have a cracking new album to celebrate the latest stage of their artistic journey (rasp). Simon Le Bon, John Taylor and Nick Rhodes sound refreshed from their excellent gig at Live Earth, where they saved the planet with “Girls on Film.” They’re also contempo enough to sing about sleazy Craigslist sex in “Skin Divers,” meeting some lucky lady with “Google-dirty fingers.” As for the music, Timbaland has a history of dumbing it down when rock stars come calling, as in his ill-fated Beck team-up on “Diamond Dogs.” But he gives the Fab Five a sleek funk track on “Nite-Runner,” which could have been a leftover from FutureSex/ LoveSounds. Justin Timberlake even arrives to gloss it up — as far as Duran Duran are concerned, the union of the Timber-Snake is on the rise. Tim’s other two tracks, “Skin Divers” and “Zoom In,” are classic Durannie funk a la “Notorious.” The rest, produced by Tim protégé Nate “Danja” Hills (plus the band), has the skin-trade title track and another Timberlake collabo, “Falling Down.” JT and DD sound in sync — dirty pop boys have to stick together.

Jools Holland: surely won’t be long before the fourth plinth on Trafalgar Square is occupied with his statue. His vision to enjoy himself, act as a tasteful musical arbiter and share his influences with the general public has now given him a glittering 30 year career. To tie in with the publication of his autobiography, Barefaced Lies & Boogie-Woogie Boasts comes this CD/DVD package of him, his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and the best selections from his well-thumbed Rolodex of stellar chums.
Some of this is fairly standard boogie fare, but there are moments of beauty. Possibly the most unfashionable pairing of all time, Holland and the Stereophonics, deliver a truly beautiful version of Ewan McColl’s “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”. The song may indeed be unbreakable, but this version really is something else. Shane MacGowan sounds on the verge of collapse on “Just To Be Home With You”, and long-time collaborator Sam Brown delivers the genuinely warm “Valentine Moon”. Edwin Starr sings a rambunctious “Snowflake Boogie” and Joe Strummer plays himself perfectly on “The Return Of The Blues Cowboy” – to hear them again sounding so relaxed in the freewheeling company is heart-warming.
However, there are some troublespots – Tom Jones’ “Think” and the Orchestra alone blazing through “Tuxedo Junction” are enough to make any reasonable soul feel queasy. If you like him, you’ll love this. If you don’t, go back to Joan As Policewoman. An accompanying DVD of the making of album and a Gilson Lavis (surely the world’s greatest drummer) interview further add to the fun.

It’s disconcerting that after four albums, emo’s dewy poster boy, Chris Carrabba (a.k.a. Dashboard Confessional), now 32, is still agape at the Medusa-like proportions of the women in his life, and beholden to the dimensions of his navel. The Shade of Poison Trees, Carrabba’s purported back-to-his-roots album (”redeem-o,” anyone?), offers little evidence that he’s matured along with his audience.
Poison Trees strikes bold notes with the acoustic-busker feel of Carrabba’s first two albums, and songs like ”Fever Dreams” and ”Little Bombs” peak in ecstatic ripples of harmony. But it also seems like Carrabba is still fighting the same demons, while attempts to artistically shake things up by emulating his peers — borrowing from Kanye West on ”Where There’s Gold…” (”Where there’s gold/There’s a golddigger”) and swiping a guitar refrain from U2 on ”The Rush” — could be perceived as callow. At times, you feel like a lab rat, pressing the same pedal again and again to tap Carrabba’s overflowing emotional basket.
