The execs over at Interscope Records have finally tightened up the screws in their heads and decided to drop former shock rocker turned pathetic dud Marilyn Manson from the label. The singer is strangely optimistic about the split even though his last album, which only sold over 120,000 copies, was the last nail in the coffin for Interscope. Marilyn complained to Metal Hammer magazine that he felt so restrained by the label to actually make the music he wanted to make and that at least half of his creative output was put to waste, but now he’s free to do whatever he wants. Does that mean he’s going to put out more music?
After being with Geffen Records for over 18 years, Rob Zombie is leaving the label and moving on to Roadrunner Records. The rock singer claims that his former label didn’t give him enough time to promote his new album ‘Hellbilly Deluxe 2’ before it’s November 9th release. I think he’s right because this is the first time that I’ve heard that he has new music. Rob said “It certainly wasn’t an easy decision to make after all this time, but it had to be done. I love this new record and wanted to surround myself with an excited new group of people who can reignite my enthusiasm for working within a hard rock record label. Roadrunner seems to be the perfect place.” The album will now hit shelves some time next year to give the rocker enough time to promote it.
According to reports, Tori Amos is on track to release her tenth album next year! And, she has a new record label!
Congrats!!!! (see I told you it’s happy news)
The piano prodigy has just signed with Universal Republic Records, home of Mika and Amy Winehouse, for the upcoming album.
Not bad! Not bad at all.
A press release for Tori Amos says every track on the album will be accompanied by a corresponding ‘visualette,’ featuring footage that has been captured over the past year. The video is shot in HD and Super 8, the visualettes will incorporate a documentary style.
COOL! Can’t wait!!!!!!!
Poison is set to hit the road this summer, but prior to that they’re getting the band back together to sue their record label.
According to a lawsuit filed today in L.A. Superior Court, the band claims Capitol Records conned them, underpaying them royalties for years.
They also claim they were shortchanged by EMI Music Marketing over a deal they made in 2005 for their greatest hits album, which featured a new track entitled “We’re An American Band.”
Universal records has given Amy Winehouse an ultimatum – either she quit the drugs or else she will not have her new record released. No record release means no money for drugs. The label made a similar threat earlier this year to get Wino into rehab after pictures and a video of her smoking crack surfaced. An insider says that Universal have stepped up again saying “Amy has been reminded of her responsibilities. Unless she is clean she will not be allowed to release another album.” Let’s hope this ultimatum will shake Amy straight though I’m not betting on it especially if Blake gets out of prison early.
