Since the large belly of commercialism doesn’t seem to want to grow any thinner because of certain economical circumstances, it seems Activision Blizzard has recently announced that there will be a sequel coming up to the ever popular game “Guitar Hero” which will have Van Halen as its central figure… among Queen, The Offspring and other names. This all seems fine and dandy and will surely bring a pretty, but honest penny to the company’s vaults, but does this game actually even encourage guitar playing for real? I’m sure that’s what Van Halen would want out of it… or so I dare hope.

Queen guitarist Brian May has written something that is harder to understand than some of his group’s songs – his astrophysics doctoral thesis. The rocker just published his thesis entitled “A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud” which actually won him a PhD from Imperial College in London. According to Live Science, May’s thesis examines the mysterious phenomenon of Zodiacal light, a cone of light that appears in the western sky after sunset and in the eastern sky before sunrise. I can hardly believe that this came from the guy behind ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ but still, congratulations go out to him.

Well now who said rock icons weren’t smart? Brian May; former lead guitarist of legend rock band, Queen; has just completed a doctorate in Astrophysics of all things. On top of that he has been named the next chancellor to Liverpool John Moores University.
Well I never.
Rock bands have a reputation that obviously is not all true. They are linked with drugs, alcohol, throwing TV’s from hotel windows…you know the sort of thing. But after giving it up in his mid 20’s to pursue Queen’s massively growing success; 60 year old May went back to his studies; completing his PdD thesis “A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud.” in October this year.
Just goes to show kids – you can be a talented musician and go to school. Your parents will be so proud.

Queen hit Bohemian Rhapsody is the U.K.’s best music video of all time, according to a new poll. It always has been the best video (although I am a bit shocked that it beat out thriller) but Bohemian Rhapsody has also been the best song ever and should stay that way forever. The reason why I say that it should remain like this forever is that though there are more slick and more techno video being made out there but they are classics that are never ever going to be made this way again. Today’s videos are more like pornography videos and the language could have your parents seeing the blues that they have never witnessed like before. These songs and videos are like rare paintings their value will never subside it will increase with time and people who have the video as a collection shall treasure it like an integral part of their lives.
