After a serious spine injury, British superstar Phil Collins has made the decision to never play the drums again as it is too painful. The singer said “I’ve got a condition that means I can’t play anymore. After playing drums for 50 years, I’ve had to stop. Obviously I’m very sad about it. My vertebrae has been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in. It comes from years of playing. I can’t even hold the sticks properly without it being painful.” The former Genesis member also reassures the world that while he can no longer play the drums, he can still sing.

If you thought Paul McCartney got sucked dry by Heather Mills, you obviously haven’t heard of Phil Collins yet. According to the British tabloids, Phil’s ex-wife, Orianne Cevey, got a leg up on Heather as she got to milk a $46 million divorce payday from the soft-rocker. It’s the biggest payout of its kind ever in the UK, beating Heather’s payout by $2 million. Phil needs to think about just staying single for the rest of his life. Whatever’s left of his money will stay safe longer. The singer has actually paid out more than $80 million in support for his 3 divorces.

Phil Collins has the number one song in New Zealand this week with his 1981 hit `In The Air Tonight`. You can thank the viral campaign by Cadbury featuring the Cadbury Gorilla for getting him there.

Cadbury launched the $12 million campaign out of the UK a year ago and the ad has become a viral sensation on the internet.

Collins is rumoured to have been paid $1 million for the rights for the use of the song in the campaign.

It features a gorilla playing his signature drum sound while `In The Air Tonight` is playing.

The campaign is unique in that it does not mention the name Cadbury once, nor does it mention chocolate. It is working for Cadbury because the Gorilla has become known as the Cadbury Gorilla and raised awareness of the Cadbury brand.

Well, it’s also working for Phil. Not only has he banked his million bucks, he`ll also have a cheque coming out of New Zealand for royalties from his latest hit song.

At 57 years of age and 30 years in the music industry, singer Phil Collins has finally decided to retire. The singer recently completed a reunion tour with his former band Genesis. Just this past Friday, he announced that he will no longer be releasing any more albums nor would he go on any more tours. The now retired musician plans to take a break from music but will continue to write music on his free time. As for the bulk of his free time, Phil has said that he’ll be spending time working on his favorite hobby of collecting memorabilia from the Battle of the Alamo.
