The New Kids on the Block were all set to tour in Australia later this summer but the resurrected boy band is now scrapping those tour plans citing the recession as their reason why. Donnie Wahlberg made the announcement on their official website saying “Despite warnings that the financial problems plaguing the world would compromise the Australian tour – they never gave up on this dream and neither did we. However – I’m sorry to say that now – it is true. We can only assure you that when the recession’s stranglehold on the world’s economies eases up a bit – we will find a way to make this work.” They should just admit that they didn’t sell enough tickets.
New Kids On The Block are hitting the road again in support of their album The Block! Donnie, Jordan, Joey, Danny and Jon will kick off the “Full Service Tour” on May 28th in Atlanta, playing shows through July 18th in Houston. Jabbawockeez, the champs from season one of MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew,” will join NKOTB on the road for what promises to be the hottest party of the summer.
Check out the new video of Donnie on the homepage of NKOTB.com discussing what to expect on the new tour. The clip features plenty of live footage and the guys’ signature dance moves.

The New Kids on the Block are taking the comeback business quite seriously as they have announced that they are once again going out on tour this summer. I just hope that it will be an all new show. If it’s still like the first one, it will just be boring. The tour kicks off on May 28 in Atlanta at the Lakewood Amphitheatre and will wrap up on July 18 in Houston at the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion. They have a total of 25 new dates to make. I am doubtful of how many more fans of theirs will see their second set of shows.
New Kids On The Block have just premiered the video for their song “2 in the Morning.” Shot at a mansion in Pacific Palisades, CA, the video follows a feuding couple throughout the house. Donnie describes the concept of the piece as “somewhat based on a very literal translation of the song with a twist.”
Over a decade ago, New Kids on the Block boasted one of the most extensive and highly profitable merchandise lines which included everything from lunch boxes and sleeping bags to comic books, marbles and dolls. Now, returning to the scene after fourteen years to release The Block and tour the world yet again, the guys have found a way to expand their empire even further. NKOTB have teamed up with DiNG to give fans a way to represent on their cell phones, laptops, mp3 players, and gaming systems with removable vinyl decals. Check out the making of New Kids on the Block’s video for “Single” featuring Ne-Yo. Watch the group and Ne-Yo discuss the concept of the video at Jet Nightclub in Las Vegas and take direction from director Benny Boom (Ciara, Rooney, 50 Cent). NKOTB are currently on the road, so check out their upcoming tour dates to see when they will be in a city near you.
Just because one boy band is making somewhat of a successful comeback doesn’t mean that it’s going to work for every single boy band that ever came out. To the excitement of absolutely no one, 30-year old AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys said that his band is planning to go back into the studio to work on some music. Does anyone even care at all? It’s not like they have any eligible bachelors left on their group unless you count Nick Carter. But then again, who would want that sleaze ball? If you ask me who would win in a BSB vs New Kids on the Block brawl, I’d say NKOTB.
New Kids on the Block’s highly anticipated release of The Block is finally here! Standard and Deluxe editions of the album are available on iTunes here. Check out the band featured on the homepage and celebrity page of Myspace today and watch them discuss their reunion, making of the album and more in this exclusive video.
NKOTB also just premiered the video for “Single” on VH1.com. The guys took over the Vegas clubs in this brand new video featuring R&B sensation Ne-Yo.
The New Kids on the Block must be so happy that they decided to make a comeback as it’s actually working. NKOTB just got their new Interscope album ‘The Block’ released and their tour is sold out. The estimates for their first week sales is said to be around 115,000. That should be good enough to get them a top 5 spot. Congratulations to them. Apparently, a lot of their fans are still losers. Does this mean that NSYNC will be making a comeback too? I don’t think it’s likely. Lance is too big of a diva to make a comeback.
With the surprising success the New Kids on the Block have had with their reunion we can expect that other 90’s super groups (EHEM, BOYBANDS) might try for a comeback too.
And it looks like that might be happening!
Former boy band member and famously GAY Lance Bass gave some hints during a recent interview.
Although Lance didn’t confirm the news 100%, he claimed that “the odds were good” for an N’Sync reunion. To say that the odds are good means that the boys are just finalizing issues, LIKE MONEY.
Question is will Justin Timberlake agree to do it? Because we all know he doesn’t need to do it unlike the rest of them.
Bass said, “We’re definitely itching to do some music. We’ve always discussed it. It’s always a possibility and we still owe some records to the record companies. I’m serious!”
Lance also claims that the reunion tour could begin as early as next year.
