And it seems it is in very, very short supply. The singer was apparently very furious with her limo driver who was two minutes late to pick her up at the airport. Wow… not even Mariah Carey would’ve had that short a fuse… she would’ve probably given the man thirty seconds or one minute extra. Moreover, Whitney Houston even started taking it out on innocent travelers, even one who whished her a good day. Who would’ve imagined she of all people would have such a short fuse? The divas of today should watch out because it looks like they have some serious competition and Whitney Houston is probably not here to screw around either.
Barbra Streisand was reportedly offered a whopping $100 million for a three year contract to perform in Las Vegas and the legendary singer said no! A source said “After Celine Dion left Vegas, no one has been able to replace her. Bette Midler failed, Cher is trying, only Barbra is guaranteed to succeed. She’s an international star and the only performer in the world that would make people flock to Vegas year after year.” Well, it’s not like Barbra needs the money anyway but she is going on a tour this summer. The icon doesn’t go out of style as her latest release ‘Love is the Answer’ actually beat out Paramore and Mariah Carey for the top spot on the charts last October.
Mariah Carey may be a diva but she’s an honest one. Unlike other celebrities who have given slurred speeches and denied being under some sort of influence, the singer admitted so. In case you forgot, Mariah’s acceptance speech last week for an award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival was nothing short of awkward. According to Mariah, she was already buzzed on champagne when she took to the stage to accept her award. She said “We’d been sitting there, celebrating this whole time and having little splashes, and I hadn’t eaten. If people don’t understand me and they just think I’m this girl that stands by a microphone and sings ‘Hero’ then they’re definitely not gonna get me. But if people knew me they’d understand and have a sense of humor. And basically that’s what gets me through life.”
After early sales number showed that Barbra Streisand and Mariah Carey were neck and neck for the number 2 spot on the Billboard album charts last week but the legendary singer actually pulled off the unexpected. Barbra came in at the top of the mountain, beating not only Mariah but fan favorite band Paramore as well. After all of these years, Barbra is still number 1. Congratulations! For someone who did very little to no promotion at all, she certainly came in with a huge surprise. She’s amazing really. The day that she fails to make a huge splash would be the day that pigs fly.
Mariah Carey’s album ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ isn’t finished yet but with Whitney Houston’s comeback planned for release later this month, Mariah Carey is said to be feeling the heat. A source said “She’s getting very nervous now that Whitney Houston is coming back.” With her being anxious, I can only say that she might be heading for a disaster. Chris Lighty, the singer’s manager who she signed with four months ago, is remaining mum on the details of the album. He would only say that his company is “dealing with [Carey's] music, brand extensions and commercial opportunities” and that the love Mariah. But when he was asked about the progress of the album, Chris said he couldn’t be bothered to talk any longer. Mariah also recently parted ways with her publicists. I think she’s in for another break down.
