Jon Bon Jovi is being sued for $400 billion – yes, with a b, by a Boston musician who says that the musician allegedly borrowed lyrics from his Boston Red Sox anthem entitled ‘(Man I Really) Love This Team’. Samuel Bartley Steele, the front man for a band called The Chelsea City Council, believes that Bon Jovi heard his song while campaigning in Boston for John Kerry in 2004 and then used the lyrics in his own song entitled ‘I Love This Town’. Regardless of the result, Steele really is living on a prayer if he thinks he’s going to get that amount of cash.

Duran Duran kicked off their world tour on Wednesday in Auckland, New Zealand. And all I could say about it is – odd. Lead singer Simon Le Bon exclaimed to concertgoers that “Duran Duran, fucking up in style!” And he was right. Le Bon forgot the lyrics to the smash hit ‘Hungry like a Wolf’ and bassist John Taylor even stormed off the stage at one point when the group’s members wore matching satin suits and headsets to play a medley on keyboards and an electric drum set. After returning to the stage, Taylor said that he couldn’t dance to that.

I’ll bet there isn’t a woman out there who hasn’t, at one point in their lives, sung this song loud and proud. Whether it be in your bath tub, at your ex boyfriend or on a drunken karaoke night with the girls – admit it you’ve all done it.
After 30 years of its release, Gloria Gaynor continues to ride the success of “I Will Survive,” touring the country and the world over and performing her signature song on dozens of TV shows.
A few successful remixes of the song during the 1990s and 2000s along with new versions of the song by Diana Ross, Chantay Savage, rock group Cake and others as well as constant recurrent airplay on nearly all Soft AC and Rhythmic format radio stations have helped to keep the song in the mainstream.
Now in 2008, Gloria celebrates the 30th Anniversary of her Grammy Award winning song. The lyrics of this song are written from the point of view of a woman, recently dumped, telling her former lover that she can cope without him and does not want anything more to do with him. The song has become something of an anthem of female emancipation, and is still a staple of office parties and karaoke nights.
