Etta James’ son Donto recently stated that his mother’s condition is improving and doctors have been able to control the infections that led to her hospitalization a couple of weeks ago. The legendary singer has been transferred to a medical center in a Los Angeles suburb and her son also said that she is eager to get back to performing although it’s still unknown when she will be released. I’m happy to hear that the music icon is making progress but it sounds like she still has a long way to go for a full recovery. Get well soon Etta!

The singer is apparently quite heartbroken over the fact that he is unable to bring his dogs over from Los Angeles in the UK. Moreover, he supposedly spends six thousand dollars a month to visit them. This is what Robbie Williams wrote on his blog about the matter: “We’ve come back to see the Dogs….. because of the ridiculous quarantine rules …… The Little ones and the big ones have to have Jabs then wait a whole 6 months before they re deemed fit enough(well, rabies free) to join us in England…It’s a stupid law but one You can’t do anything about.” Strange that Robbie Williams has to wait six months for his dogs to be allowed into England… I hear dogs die from rabies in about ten days so where’s the logic in it. Maybe the authorities in the UK consider that if the dogs can survive for six months in a place like Los Angeles then perhaps they may have developed some sort of immunities and can be considered valuable members of the British canine community.

Louie Bellson has often been hailed as ‘the world’s greatest drummer’, he has passed away due to complications of Parkinson’s disease at Cedars Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles at the age of eighty-four.

Louie began his musical career as a teenager and is best remembered for performances he dished out being the member of big bands while working with the likes of jazz legends such as Count Basie, Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington. During the 1940’s and 50’s he was the star attraction at every show he performed in.

Amongst his achievements are winning 6 Grammy Awards and also won the coveted and prestigious American Jazz Masters Award in 1994.

Yeah that’s a really stellar career Louie hand and I’m sure he led a very dignified life and played with the best in the business. I have hardly ever heard a drummer winning 6 Grammys so this gentleman must have been really special.

Prince’s New Hip

Prince is set to have a secret hip replacement. Not much of a secret though if I’m writing about it is it?

The ‘Purple Rain’ singer, who released his first album in 1978, is being forced to undergo the surgery at just 49-years-old after suffering excruciating pain as a result of years of blistering performances.

A source said, “For months Prince, who always puts on the most energetic shows, has been complaining of pain every time he moves. He is totally crushed because he knows he will never be the same again.”

The surgery will involve removing the ball and socket of Prince’s damaged hip and replacing it with a titanium joint. The diminutive star is allegedly booking into a private hospital and aides have reportedly cleared two months from his diary to allow him time to recover from the operation.

Meanwhile, Prince put his health worries aside to host a special exclusive post Oscar-party last night. A-list names reportedly invited to the extravagant bash at his new Los Angeles home included Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Will Smith, Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz.

A Loss for Diana Ross

It’s a time for mourning for many stars in the past couple of weeks. We first had Jane Seymour lose her mother, Marie Osmond lose her father, Kanye West bury his mother and now, Diana Ross suffers through the loss of her father.

The legendary singer gave one of the most emotional performance of her career on Tuesday night when she revealed to the audience at her show at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles that her father had passed away earlier that morning. But like a true performer, she decided to go on with the show.

One concertgoer said that “It was very touching. Diana was close to tears throughout the show and at one point brought out her entire family on stage in celebration of her dad.”
