Pop sing Gloria Estefan has announced that her upcoming Latin America tour shall be her very last concert tour and that she will hang up her boots once the tour ends. Gloria started her career in 1975 and now 25 years later she is bringing the curtains down in Latin America where it all started for her.

Last year Gloria announced that in order to spend more time and be an active part of the upbringing of her 14 year old daughter Emily Marie she would she would start reducing the amount of time she spends on tour. Making this announcement the pop singer said: “it is an end to something that began many years ago, in 1975, and it is a dream to be able to do it in Latin America.”

Everyone has to take this call at some point in time, some because they aren’t good enough to remain in business and some like Gloria take this decision because of family and personal reasons. Some old artist would not leave stage because family is not important to them but it’s really good to see that Gloria has her daughter’s upbringing on top of her mind.

It seems like musicians are dropping like flies this past weekend. Here’s some sad news for Cubans and Latin music lovers all over the world. Israel Cachao Lopez has passed away in Miami this weekend. He died at the age of 89 years. Cachao was the legendary bassist who created the mambo. Such an accomplishment will never be forgotten or beaten. He pretty much paved the way for many Latin music artists currently out there. His influence on music is sure to live on forever. My condolences go out to Cachao’s family. May he rest in peace – and thank you!
