It was recently announced that Bette Midler will soon be ending her stint on the Las Vegas strip. After a relatively show two year run at Caesars Palace, the singer/actress will be giving her final performance on January 31, 2010. I think that it’s just about time that she puts an end to her show as her tickets haven’t really been selling as well as it had been. I wonder who’s going to take her place. Las Vegas has seen the likes of Cher, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey already. Could another diva make its way to the strip? Or is someone going to make a return?

A month after his death, the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas recently revealed who’s taking over the turntables that DJ AM once helmed. The coveted Friday night spot at Rain Nightclub at the hotel now belongs to DJ Z-Trip, who was recently named America’s Best DJ of 2009 by DJ Times. The new Palms DJ will have his first show on October 16th. Good luck to him because he’s got some big shoes to fill. But judging by the accolades that he got from DJ Times, I think he’s off to a good start with building a reputation for himself.

Toni Braxton has a broken heart – all according to Toni Braxton. And her insurance company doesn’t see the need to reimburse her for that. Lloyd’s of London is actually looking for damages from the singer after she cancelled her Las Vegas show back in 2006 due to a heart ailment. The problem isn’t so much that she cancelled but rather the information of a “pericarditis condition” was never disclosed on the insurance application but she still had the audacity to sue the company for not cutting her a piece after she cancelled. I think that the insurance company has a better case in their countersuit.

The wheels have been set into motion for what’s sure to be a crappy romantic comedy revolving around the song catalogue of Barry Manilow. Single Cell and Playtone are collaborating on the movie project with Michael Stipe and Tom Hanks directly involved in production. Apparently, the film wouldn’t be a traditional musical with the actors bursting into a sudden song but that the plot is more like ‘Love Actually’ with intersecting story lines between the characters, which will all be fans of the singer going to Las Vegas for a weekend to see Barry perform at Mandalay Bay. His music will be played throughout the movie with a performance from him of course.
