Roseanne Cash, the daughter of Johnny Cash, is not happy that country singer John Rich actually told a concert crowd that her dad would have backed John McCain for president. While performing at a recent McCain rally, Rich said “Somebody’s got to walk the line in the country. They’ve got to walk it unapologetically. And I’m sure Johnny Cash would have been a John McCain supporter if he was still around.” Roseanne responded in an angry statement saying “It is appalling to me that people still want to invoke my father’s name, five years after his death, to ascribe beliefs, ideals, values and loyalties to him that cannot possibly be determined, and to try to further their own agendas by doing so. … This is especially dangerous in the case of political affiliation.” Do not be misled just because you’re a Johnny Cash fan.
Snoop Dogg is one of the artists working on transforming the first Johnny Cash album into at 21st century rap record.
Snoop is remixing Cash’s ‘I Walk The Line’ from The Sun Sessions. The album will be called Johnny Cash Remixed and is being driven by Cash’s son, John Carter Cash.
“My father made his stead by defying the expected and accepted way of things” John Carter Cash said in a statement. “He set the standard at the same time. He would have loved this remix record. While it stays true to the original recordings, this CD touches on undiscovered ground. This is what my father was about: staying true to tradition while creating groundbreaking new music.”
The original pieces from The Sun Sessions are being used as the template for the new recordings. Rick Rubin, who produced Cash’s last 5 albums, is overseeing production. The album will be released on October 14.
