After 18 long years with Geffen Records, it seems Rob Zombie has finally decided to pack his stuff and move to Roadrunner Records. The reason… well, an honest one, truth be told: they just didn’t give Rob Zombie enough time to promote his new record. This is what the singer said about the move: “It certainly wasn’t an easy decision to make after all this time, but it had to be done. I love this new record and wanted to surround myself with an excited new group of people who can reignite my enthusiasm for working within a hard rock record label. Roadrunner seems to be the perfect place.” Right… well, the boys at Roadrunner will probably make sure that Rob Zombie gets all the bang for his buck that he needs. Let the sellout commence!

The former front man from Black Sabbath has recently filled a lawsuit against the guitarist for seizing the rights to the band’s name and all the merchandising that follows. Ozzy Osbourne said the following about his drastic actions: “Tony, I am so sorry it’s had to get to this point by me having to take this action against you, we’ve all worked too hard and long in our careers to allow you to sell merchandise that features all our faces, old Black Sabbath album covers and band logos, and then you tell us that you own the copyright.” Rightly so! Ozzy Osbourne was dead center on this one… after all, Black Sabbath is like a familly business to him and the rest of the band and it is only fair that they get their fair share of the bounty.

The band… or fictional band, as most might brand it, will be releasing some new material after seventeen years of laying silent in the shadows. The new album will be called “Back from the dead” which seems to be quite the adequate choice of a title. The bassist, Derek Smalls, had this to say about the new release: “Basically, it was possible to put out a record that was louder than any we’ve ever had before, and that was a selling point right there. We could have the loudest Spinal Tap record there’s ever been, and we thought, ‘Well, yeah, why not?’” A wise choice and one made in the true spirit of heavy metal which Spinal Tap seems to enjoy so well.

Hollywood hair metal dreamers Steel Panther have launched an all out attack on the pop mainstream with their newest video “Death to All But Metal”. Asserting their alpha male dominance with plenty of hairspray, spandex, and sick stage moves, Steel Panther have taken shots against anyone NOT flying the hair metal flag. Kanye West, Madonna, and 50-Cent are among the superstars targeted by lead singer Michael Starr’s wrath in the clip.

“Death to All But Metal” is an homage to Van Halen’s classic “Hot For Teacher” video and also features a cameo by smart mouth comedienne Sarah Silverman as the school principal.

Steel Panther’s new album, Feel The Steel, hits stores on 6/9 (how fitting is that date?!)

According to the Daily Mail, Iron Maiden front man Bruce Dickenson flew to the rescue of 22 stranded British vacationers in Egypt. Apparently, a big Brit vacation package company went bust right before last weekend which left many holidaying Brits all around the world with no way to get home. The heavy-metal singer then brushed off his captain wings with British airline Astraeus to answer the call for help. Apparently, he’s been a captain with the airline for 2 and a half years, having worked for them for 9 years. The rocker became a pilot during a low point in his solo career. He told the paper “I was just doing my job. I was called out like a lot of other pilots to help and I was obviously happy to do that. Some of the people on the flight were obviously frustrated by the situation they had found themselves in but everyone was pretty good-natured about it all.” I guess John Travolta wasn’t available.

Forget Ozzfest as you know it because the annual summer heavy-metal rock concert is changing things up this year by no longer touring the country and performing nonstop. Instead, they will be making Ozzfest a one-day mega event. It will take place in Dallas at the Pizza Hut Park on Saturday, August 9th with headliners Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne. Manager Sharon Osbourne commented on the change saying “Ozzy just finished an 11-month world tour, so I think he deserves a summer off. We’re going to be a stadium destination festival for now — we have gone past doing the sheds every summer. We’ve given everyone else the blueprint and we have to keep evolving Ozzfest.”
