On December 1 2008 George Michael was faced with a situation that he would now have started to get familiar with, at his farewell concert in Abu Dhabi he was forced to give away.

The ‘Careless Whisper’ singer felt embarrassed at thoughts that he might have to perform in front of a half-empty Zayed Sports City Stadium and realizing that it could well be the truth he requested the organizers to start giving away some of the 35,000 tickets for free after they failed to sell at £35 each.

But that was not all about he performing there Alicia Keys too was there at the same venue and her appearance too could not pull in the crowds so we have to say that these are some of the tremors of the current economic crisis where shelling out £35 to see your favorite stars perform doesn’t make to much sense.

Alicia Keys upon being asked what she thought about having the chance to perform along side George Michael revealed she was thrilled to be singing alongside former Wham! star George.

She said: “I have listened to George since I was a child. I wouldn’t say that he has inspired my music but I’m a big fan. I love his hits like ‘Freedom’ and ‘Faith’.”

George Michael looks set to quit touring. The 44-year-old singer has announced dates at London’s Earls Court on August 24 and 25, which are entitled ‘The Final Two’ and are being billed as his “last ever UK arena shows”.

A statement on his official website read: “These very special shows will naturally feature Michael’s hits, some tracks not previously performed in Britain, and a stunning new stage set. These shows are truly not to be missed by any George Michael fan.”

The title is a reference to his last performance with Andrew Ridgeley as Wham! at London’s Wembley Stadium in 1986, which was called ‘The Final’.

The concerts will bring to an end George’s ‘25 Live’ tour, which started in Barcelona in September 2006 and marked his first tour for 15 years. George will playing shows across North America from June to August prior to his London dates.

Since shooting to fame in the 80s, George has become one of the biggest pop stars of all time. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide and his hits include ‘Careless Whisper’, ‘Faith’ and ‘Outside’.

George Michael is a Big Pop Star

George Michael was spotted just as he was leaving a London recording studio on Thursday. This time, instead of being slumped over the steering wheel of a car, he was photographed walking in between two cars. Is the beefy pop star working on a new album? If so, this is the first time I’m finding out. Let’s hope that his popularity with the fans will grow just as much as his waist. Otherwise, it’s a lost cause. How did he get so fat? He needs to work out some more. Where’s Richard Simmons when you need him? Then again, I’m not liking the idea of George in tight gym shorts.

George Michael Tell All

George Michael has reportedly signed a multi-million dollar deal to write a so-called no holds barred autobiography. HarperCollins will release the book and the publishing company said that the controversial singer will write the tell-all autobiography entirely by himself. Really? Will he spill the beans on his sexual compulsivity too? He better not do any sugarcoating now! I want the dirt!

The singer’s manager Andy Stephens said that “George has promised HarperCollins a no-holds-barred biography, and it’s certain to be just that. People aren’t stupid, they’re beginning to notice that the truth is more interesting than the stories the press come up with.”
