The stars gathered to pay tribute to one of the American music industry’s icon Neil Diamond. However, the event also signaled the entry of talented artists who will hopefully follow Diamond’s longevity if sheer talent can make that possible. On top of the list is 27-year old Jennifer Hudson who brought down the house with her rendition of Diamond’s 1968 hit “Holly Holy”. Hudson delivered a soulful performance which left no doubt about her vocal power and her ability to move crowds.

The other performers who followed Hudson’s performance were Kid Rock who sang “Thank the Lord for the Night Time” and Josh Groban. The 68-year old Diamond, who sat back listening to fairly young singers render their versions of his hit songs, said he is loving every minute of this big honor. The younger generation also paid tribute to Diamond led by the Jonas Brother who started with “Forever in Blue Jeans”, Adele with “Cracklin’ Rose”, Coldplay with “I’m a Believer” and the Foo Fighters who delivered a loud rendition of “Delirious Love’. Faith Hill sang “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” with Diamond himself while her husband Tim McGraw sang “Hello Again”.
