Elvis Presley’s White Kanbe Grand Piano will be going up for auction among other collectibles at Heritage Auctions’ August 14th Elvis Auction at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. The piano is expected to rake in over $1 million. Other items up for grabs include the King of Rock and Roll’s original 1955 RCA contract, a signed Graceland Purchase Agreement, personal address book, a love letter to his old girlfriend Anita Wood from 1958, a jumpsuit and a handgun. With such personal items up for auction, I’m willing to bet that this one will rake in a lot of money. I think that music contract would sell pretty big too.

A few of Elvis Presley’s reedited songs will be included on an album, to commemorate 75 years from his birth. The songs included on “Viva Elvis” will be reedited in a manner so the listener will have the impression he is listening to a live performance of The King. “Burning Love”, “Suspicious Minds”, “Blue Suede Shoes” and “It’s Now Or Never” are just a few of the songs included on this album. “Viva Elvis” will be released in November this year. On the 8th of January this year, Elvis Presley would have reached the age of 75.

A few rare registrations of Elvis on tour will be included on the remastered version of the “Elvis on Tour” documentary. The documentary will be released to mark 75 years from Elvis’s birth. “Elvis on Tour 75th Anniversary Celebration” will be in the cinemas at the end of July, but only for a short while. The documentary will contain remastered live registrations that were part of a 1972 documentary, also interviews included in the original version of “Elvis on Tour”, the last musical documentary released by Elvis. Many sequences will be on screen for the first time ever.

It might seem to be a very unusual cause of death, but it apparently isn’t. What is unusual however is that Elvis Presley’s doctor, George Nichopoulos, waited thirty god damned years to come out with this. The good doctor apparently claims that Elvis Presley’s demise occurred due to a severe case of untreated constipation. This is what he related on the matter: “We didn’t realize until the autopsy that his constipation was as bad. We found stool in his colon which had been there for four or five months because of the poor mobility of the bowel. He would get embarrassed. He’d have accidents onstage. He’d have to change clothes and come back because of the way we were trying to treat his constipation.” That must’ve stung. It seems Elvis Presley really was a lot more stubborn than most might have given him credit for.

It’s hard to believe that it’s only been 4 months since Michael Jackson’s death. It’s harder to believe that in that time, he has become the third top grossing dead celebrity this year. The King of Pop beat out the likes of Elvis Presley and John Lennon as Forbes has clocked the late singer as having earned $90 million posthumously. Most of the earnings are due to the countless merchandising deals and the rights to the use of his name and likeness in the film ‘This is It’. Michael also made millions from album sales, radio airplay and music video marathons from the weeks after his death. He was only beat out by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and Broadway buffs Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein, whose earnings were combined.
