After a spell in hospital, Sir Elton John has returned to good health.
He attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation gala in New York this week. Concerns were recently raised for Sir Elton when he was admitted to a private London hospital with influenza and e.coli.
He cancelled a string of UK shows ahead of a North America tour.
But his civil spouse, David Furnish, and his longtime friend, Elizabeth Hurley, both assured fans and media he was doing fine.
Sir Elton was discharged to his home after spending almost a week in hospital. He was said at the time to be resuming his North America tour, kicking off in Oakland, California. Concert partner, Billy Joel, however, pulled out of a California concert that was set for the pair due to his own medical issues, it was reported.
The AIDS benefit recognised former President Bill Clinton and actress Sharon Stone, who has tirelessly campaigned for the disease for years.
Sir Elton John, 62, was released from a London hospital after treatment for an e.coli infection.
Sir Elton was hospitalised at a private facility with influenza and a serious bacterial gut infection last weekend.
His civil spouse, David Furnish, had said Sir Elton was fine and would be released within two to three days.
But no reports to update his condition were made available through the week.
His spokesman, Gary Farrow, said Sir Elton was at home on Friday and was feeling fine. Farrow said Sir Elton was discharged from the hospital early on Thursday.
Sir Elton, who cancelled some UK performance dates and postponed others in North America, would be resuming his suspended tour, starting with a gig with Billy Joel in Oakland near San Francisco on November 14.
Elton John recently cancelled several concerts in the UK and Ireland due to influenza. However, new reports have come out saying that the singer has been diagnosed with a serious case of E. Coli. As a result, his 3 upcoming gigs in Seattle and Portland with Billy Joel have also been postponed. Sir Elton is currently getting some treatment at a London hospital for the bacterial infection. Ticket holders have been asked to hang on to their stubs as his camp works out a new schedule for the postponed shows. I hope he gets better soon! He needs to worry about his health first before anything else.
Sir Elton John has cancelled UK engagements due to illness.
Sir Elton was forced to pull out of two concerts in England due to the flu, his publicist said.
The concerts were to take place at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena and Sheffield Arena. The 62-year-old megastar was said to be grief-stricken over the recent loss of Stephen Gately of Boyzone. Sir Elton’s civil spouse, David Furnish, attended Gately’s Dublin funeral service.
Sir Elton’s publicist said: “Elton is bitterly disappointed at missing tonight’s Red Piano concert in Newcastle – one of his favourite areas to perform. The crowds are always great music fans and not being able to put on this special show for Newcastle is upsetting.”
Sir Elton’s next scheduled performance is at the Wembley Arena Tuesday and Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Wednesday, the BBC said.
The famous singer recently shared with us all his immense regret that he didn’t have any sex until he was 23. Elton John said the following: “I made the mistake of not having sex until I was 23! I loved being with another man and felt relieved that I finally knew who I was. I made the mistake of falling in love too soon because I was naive and romantic. My advice to you is to never chase love. It will find you when you least expect it. Have fun, have lots of safe sex and enjoy your sexuality. Be proud of who you are.” Well, Elton John might not want to extend that advice to absolutely everyone… after all, Aryan pride might well fall under his terms, but it still is pretty much of a no-no around our parts.
Elton John was recently told that he could not adopt a toddler from Ukraine due to a number of the country’s legal reasons. But there’s a sliver of hope for the singer. Ukraine’s family, youth and sports minister, Yuri Pavlenko has had a slight change of heart regarding the adoption of 14-month old Lev. On Thursday, Pavlenko said that Elton “has the right and opportunity to invite the family of this boy to visit him, take them under his guardianship and help him grow into a good person.” That basically means that they won’t let Elton and his partner David Furnish legally adopt Lev but they’ll let them financially take care of the child under a guardianship.
After five years and 241 shows, Elton John is saying goodbye to Las Vegas for a well-deserved break. But it may not be his last day in Sin City. For his last scheduled show last week, Elton played his greatest hits, much to the delight of his adoring fans, whom he thanked for all the support. Before he closed the show with ‘Your Song’, the singer said “Who are you going to get to fill in our shoes now? You’ve got Bette Midler, you’ve got Cher. It’s gonna be the Village People next. One day I might even see you in Vegas, OK? But until then, I love you.”
He is an achiever no doubt and has remained an international star for decades now so it comes as no surprise that Councillors in the London borough of Harrow are considering honoring their most famous former resident by naming a street after him.
Susan Hall who is the Harrow Council Councillor’s Deputy Leader said: “We are supportive of any initiative that supports pride in our streets and strengthens a sense of community. As long as local people back the idea, in Harrow we could look at Elton John Avenue or similar to mark the achievements of a true international achiever.”
Well Elton John has great admirers all over the world and it is just fitting that this man receives all the accolades and awards that have either already come his way or would be bestowed upon him.
I just do not know what does his partner David feel about all this, means does he walk up to Elton and say hey man you talk about this be a civil partnership so why not someone come up and appreciate my role in keeping you so famous these past few years. Why not name the street as ‘The Elton & David Street’? How does that sound to you guys?
