Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5: The Musical’ premiered in Los Angeles on Tuesday night with a couple of minor glitches but one big surprise to pick up the slack. The diva herself was there to introduce the show. Dolly welcomed the audience and engaged them for a bit. She said that since it was the first showing that there might be some stopping and starting but she promised that she will get up to do a show if that happens. The first act started and about halfway through, the moving set came to a stop. After a moment of silence, Dolly kept her promise and got on stage. She answered some audience questions and then started to perform. She sang ‘9 to 5’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’.
Howard Stern and his crew manipulated some Dolly Parton audio books into stuff that was seemingly racist and sexually graphic last week. Dolly was pissed about it and has recently released a statement through her reps saying “I have never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in all my life. I cannot believe what Howard Stern has done to me. In a blue million years, I would never have such vulgar things come out of my mouth. They have done editing or some sort of trickery to make this horrible, horrible thing. Please accept my apology for them and certainly know I had nothing to do with this. If there was ever going to be a lawsuit, it’s going to be over this. Just wanted you to know that I am completely devastated by this.”
Dolly Parton – now that’s a star who needs no introduction or any grace of tongue to be described. The diva and country music legend is back with a new album called ‘Backwoods Barbie’. On that album, she has a cover of the 80s classic ‘Drives Me Crazy’ by the Fine Young Cannibals. And like I said, it’s Dolly. Her cover rules! Her cover still has the 80s feel which made the song really enjoyable in the first place but then she adds her own country flavor and it became even better. I never knew I would be into country as much as this and again I have to say – it’s Dolly Parton! How could anyone not like her?
Quite frankly, I’ve wondered how she’s managed to walk upright for all these years. Finally, Dolly’s back gives out under the weight of those ginormous boobs!
She has postponed her 13-show tour that was set to start on February 28 due to an unspecified back problem. Her doctor recommended she take eight weeks off to recover.
Dolly said, “I know I’ve been breaking my neck and bending over backwards trying to get my new Backwoods Barbie CD and world tour together, but I didn’t mean to hurt myself doing it.”
