The front man from Depeche Mode had a rather unpleasant surprise due to a hospitalization recently. Do you wonder why Depeche Mode won’t be playing any of their dates in the next few weeks? It’s because Dave Gahan recently had surgery. A statement from the band reads as follows: “On May 12, lead singer Dave Gahan suffered a severe bout of gastroenteritis, leading to his hospitalization and the cancellation of the Athens concert. While in hospital further medical tests revealed a low-grade malignant tumor in Dave’s bladder which has been successfully removed.” Apparently they will be resuming their tour on June 8 in Germany… this one sounds like a close call. Looks like Depeche Mode will be hitting the stages for another few decades thanks to this fast medical work.

Depeche Mode’s lead singer Dave Gahan got sick and had to be rushed to the hospital before the band performed in Athens, Greece. The concert promoters became the bearers of bad news to a crowd of 20,000 of the band’s fans who were waiting for them to take the stage this past Tuesday. There is yet to be any word on the status of the singer’s health or if any more of Depeche Mode’s tour dates will be cancelled. I wonder how they’re planning to make it up to the Athens crowd too. Here’s to hoping that he gets a speedy recovery.

The famous band were set to play at the renowned British festival, but canceled their show due to the line-up which apparently doesn’t quite agree with them. Andy Fletcher, Depeche Mode’s keyboardist said the following about the band not participating at Glastonbury: “We do a lot of festivals in Europe but not so many in the UK. Glastonbury would be fun but the line-up didn’t quite work for us. Getting the right bill is important.” Maybe a band consisting of contorting cyborgs would’ve been more suited to Depeche Mode’s expectations? Or perhaps a group of electro-dancing leprechauns with digital flutes? Would’ve that been enough to make Depeche Mode go to the trouble of honoring Glastonbury with their presence?

25 years after helping to change the direction of British music, Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet are back together as Yazoo.

The band are set to embark on a world tour taking in the UK, Europe and the USA.

After Vince found fame as founder member and main songwriter in Depeche Mode, the floppy-haired keyboard maestro responded to an advert placed in Melody Maker by fellow Basildonian Alison and they formed Yazoo. They quickly became one of the UK’s most respected musical duos, leaving their mark on the charts.

The follow up album, You and Me Both was released just as the band were splitting up, leaving fans desperate to hear the songs performed live. The song went on to reach No. 1 regardless.

This summer, Yazoo are reuniting for their first tour in almost 3 decades. The Reconnected Tour will see the duo playing rare material alongside their hits.
