As Bette Midler’s stint on Las Vegas is coming to an end, it looks like Cher will be returning. The iconic diva is returning not only this month and through December 20th but also in Spring 2010. Tickets for the singer’s spring run at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace are going on sale this Saturday, November 14th. There will be 24 performances between April 10-25 and May 8-30. The director and choreographer of her show, Doriana Sanchez, explained “We are so excited to return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and have made wonderful, new changes to the show, including a number choreographed by my dear friend Tyce Diorio from So You Think You Can Dance. It pays homage to the great movie musicals, complete with incredible costumes by Bob Mackie. We are thrilled to be able to present some really fun and new things for the audiences to see.”
Chaz Bono – the daughter-turned-son of singer Cher – has opened up about his changing sex.
Chaz, born Chastity, said he finally feels like a man after gender-realignment procedures.
He said: “[I'm] still not anywhere near what I will look like, but really, for the first time, I am feeling much more comfortable with how I look physically.”
He told a US television show: “It lowered my voice. Fat redistributes, muscle growth, hair growth, sex drive increases.”
Chaz began the process to become a man in March.
In the Entertainment Tonight interview, which airs on Thursday and Friday in the States, Chaz adds: “I always felt male from the time I was a child. There wasn’t much feminine about me.
“I believe that gender is something between your ears, not between your legs. “That is something I discovered in the early 1990s.
“It was just a long process of being comfortable enough to do something about it.”
He added: “I was turning 40 and I thought it’s now or never. I want to still feel vibrant and be able to enjoy my life in a male body and not wait until I am an old man.
“It’s a long process going back almost a decade. I got clean and sober in 2004 and I couldn’t have done this before that.”
Chaz, Cher’s only child with Sonny Bono, was born in March 1969.
Cher, 63, is said to fully support the decision by Chaz to change sex.
‘Twilight’ star Cam Gigandet has recently signed on to star in ‘Burlesque’, a musical film, opposite Cher and Christina Aguilera. Cam explained “It’s about a girl from the Midwest who moves out to Los Angeles to pursue her career as a singer. Obviously, it’s Christina Aguilera, so she has an amazing voice. She finds a club run by Cher, a burlesque club. And she takes it to a whole new level and, of course, meets me — the love of her life. I am a struggling piano player, and I’m currently working as a bartender at Cher’s burlesque club. Christina and I meet, fall in love, and drama ensues.”
Sonny Bono and Cher’s daughter, Chastity Bono, has begun the process of transitioning from a female to a male. Chaz’s publicist confirms it, saying “Yes, it’s true — Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity. He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz’s hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his ‘coming out’ did nearly 20 years ago.” I wish Chaz all the best on this journey.
Cher is suing Universal Music Group for not paying her and her late ex-husband Sonny Bono the amount rightly earned in royalties. The iconic singer is after $5 million. In the lawsuit, Cher claims that after careful review of the company’s accounting, UMG execs “engaged in wrongful” tactics in order to hide revenue from two hit compilation albums. The complaint states “Instead of reporting to and paying plaintiffs their share of the revenues generated by Warner UK, UMG Recordings, in an egregious example of self-dealing, apparently inserted Universal International as a middleman in the transaction … for the sole purpose of diverting money that rightfully belonged to Plaitinffs to Universal International.”
It’s been reported that Christina Aguilera has scored herself her first big screen role in the upcoming flick ‘Burlesque’. That movie is now bound to become a battle of the divas as iconic singer Cher has also been cast. It is a musical after all. Cher plays the owner of the burlesque club at which Christina’s character works. Cher also acts as the mentor to Christina’s small-town girl character. Considering the interactions that their characters are going to have, you know there’s going to be a duet or two between the divas. That’s going to be something to really look forward to – even if the movie sucks.
It is being said that Cher has apparently had it with Las Vegas already as her Caesar’s Palace residency will be coming to an end come December after just a year and a half at the casino. The legendary singer will be taking the summer off with the final leg of her residency starting on September 19th and ending on December 20th. Cher has been performing four nights a week since May 2008 as a part of a 200-show deal with the promoter over the span of three years. Whoever initially reported this must not be a Cher fan because the diva herself has said that she plans to stick around doing her shows through 2010!
Despite performing in Las Vegas, Cher reveals that she actually lives like a nun, refraining from speech to preserve her voice, communicating via text and email instead and not having much sex. At 62, the singer is more focused on work and has a new album in the works which she describes as “a little bit more guitar-oriented, a little bit more like ‘I Found Someone’ feeling, and there’s some stuff that’s still sort of guitar-oriented, but it’s got a Southern feeling to it. You know, I just find songs that I like and then I do them and hopefully they make something cohesive.” I wonder when her new album will come out.
Pop superstar Cher has put her weight behind in the fight to relocate an elephant that belongs to the Los Angeles Zoo’s and get it a new home that by taking to the streets in a march on Wednesday.
WOW! Now this is some sort of crusade picked by Hollywood. Just reading this piece of story left me numb for a while! I have complete faith in CHER and believe that she has the good of the environment and animals inside her heart. Moreover she is a lady who has virtues such a self-sacrificing and love in her heart to assist orphans in Nepal. But what is the root cause of the problem is that we have failed to find a solution wherein who these majestic animals such as these tigers, elephants, polar bears, whales, dolphins can live in harmony with the human population.
There is only room for the fittest to survive but still if not for the heart of people like CHER and her friends…I do NOT know how the World would find solutions. I support CHER 150% and love Lily Tomlin and if they and Bob Barker can find a way to help this animal enjoy natural and expansive habitat and feed it more properly, it will only give me more to be proud of them for.
Cher and Johnny Knoxville are set to star in a comedy called ‘The Drop Out’. The singer and actress with the never-changing face will play the cougar that Johnny’s 35-year old character seduces so he can maintain his slacker, so-called career student life. Film producers are also on the lookout for a guy who can play Cher’s character’s “never-do-well” son who is looking for a father figure, even if it’s a guy his own age. Who else thinks that this will be a stinker and just a waste of money to go see? I’m even willing to bet that this will head straight to DVD.
