Boyzone singer Stephen Gately had an undiagnosed heart condition that caused him to collapse after drinking in Majorca, it has been revealed.
According to a report in the UK newspaper The Sun, the 33 year-old star was dead for eight hours before his body was discovered.
Now forensics experts in Spain have concluded that Gately died after collapsing from the undiagnosed condition and their findings have been presented to a local judge.
Scientists at The National Toxicology Institute in Barcelona ruled out drink or drugs as a factor. They listed atheromatosis, a thickening of arteries, as the underlying cause.
The report states: “Gately had been dead for approximately eight hours when his body was discovered. There are no indications of a violent death.”

Further information has been revealed about the tragic death of Boyzone singer Stephen Gately. The singer’s lungs quickly filled with fluid and doctors say that in most cases, it’s related to heart failure and could have potentially been Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). 90% of SADS cases occur in men and 12 people under the age of 35 die from it each week. UK cardiologist Dr. Sanjay Sharma explained “In young people like Stephen, under 35, the vast majority of cases are caused by either hereditary diseases affecting the heart muscle itself or an electrical fault of the heart…I would say it was an electrical fault, when the heart goes into a fatally fast rhythm, around 300 beats a minute. That would only need to happen for a couple of minutes to result in death. A medic would have had to have got to him within minutes. Often in these cases a first symptom of the condition is death, however he may have suffered palpitations and or blackouts.”

Yes Ladies and Germs, the 90’s boyband Boyzone is very much alive, in fact, they go into a fight very recently.
According to reports, the Irish lads of boy band Boyzone got into a liquor-fueled fight with Rihanna’s band in a Sydney club a few days ago.
The reason for the fight was because the “boys” decided to chat up a Riri band members’ lady friend. So CLASSY!
Stephen Gately (also known as the gay one) said, “It was over a girlfriend of one of Rihanna’s band members. We just wanted to chat and be friendly and this guy tries to rough us up. It was his girl and then all the other guys from the band start getting fresh with us – so it was on there and then.”
Security broke the fight up and gave everyone involved a ’stern talking to’.
We bet Princess Riri was not pleased!
I guess Boyzone won’t be opening up for her anytime soon!
But really, those “boys” should’ve thought about what they were doing! Coz really, Rihanna’s band has much more of a career than those five have now.

It looks like the pop phenomena of the 90s are all trying to make a comeback in 2008. First, there was the Spice Girls, then there was the New Kids on the Block and now, there’s Boyzone. The lads from the Irish group have released a new image to publicize their big reunion tour. Time hasn’t been kind to some of them but Ronan Keating is still looking as hot, maybe hotter, as he did before. I bet the openly gay one of the group really loved having to shoot photos for this campaign. Man, muscle and oil – I bet he was going nuts that day.
