Boy George and George Michael have been on the outs for about 20 years since the former called the latter out on pretending to be “a straight stud” back in the 80s. George Michael didn’t come out that he was gay until 1998 when he was caught propositioning a cop in the men’s restroom. But Boy George recently revealed that “We have exchanged emails recently and things are pretty good between us.” I’m glad that the two singers have made amends. I wonder if they have any plans on making a duet now. I think they would make some pretty good music.
After being denied by the courts to appear as a cast member on the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother, Boy George is getting a different role in the house. The execs of the show are allowing the washed up singer a cameo appearance as he will be setting some of the tasks for the housemates. The show premiered earlier this week with 11 housemates as the 12th was reserved for him. A source said “Bosses had big plans for George and they’re not willing to abandon them lightly. They were keen to see how he and Alex [Reid, Jordan's ex-boyfriend] got on. It would have been interesting to see if they dressed up together. He’s a great character and we’re thrilled he’s keen to be involved.” Boy George even hinted at his role on the show on his Twitter last week.
After begging a judge to allow him to appear on the British version of Celebrity Big Brother, a judge has denied Boy George’s request. However, the singer is determined to get that $320,000 pay check because his rep Alison MacDonald said that the “internationally renowned singer-songwriter and DJ” will be challenging the decision. The rep says that the has-been is just being punished by not allowing him to appear on the show. Probation Services think otherwise and believe that allowing Boy George to make a paid TV appearance would undermine the public’s confidence. It’s time for him to find another way to make money.
You would think that after spending some time in jail earlier this year that the last thing Boy George would want to do is get locked up in another place. But for some reason, the singer is about to do just that. According to reports, Boy George is getting ready to appear in the UK’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’. He had previously turned down several offers to appear on the show but the 48-year old is now ready to join the series. He has bills to pay after all. According to sources, George will be raking in £200,000, around $330,000, for his appearance. That explains it all!
Boy George gets a taste of his own medicine as he finds out just how miserable being locked up can be. According to the Sun, the has-been 80s singer recently had his first prison meal. It was microwaved fish, chips and mushy peas in a plastic container. Yuck! He better watch his back though as his fellow inmates are already squawking that Boy is getting special treatment by locking up an easy job as a server in the canteen. That’s not keeping the singer from being terrified that he’ll get ambushed and served on a platter himself though. He has good reason to be scared. He’s in a prison for God’s sake.
