It seems that the band’s fans are none too happy with their planned shows in London as there are many complaints that the ticket prices are monstrous. These are some of the comments on Bon Jovi’s website with regards to the prices of the tickets: “I am going to stand up for what I believe in and use my earnings to feed my kids rather than lining some fat cat’s pockets.”, “After writing an album about the world’s problems with the recession the prices are just a mockery.” Well, this is what happens when Bon Jovi goes with a promoter like AEG… who have just lost a fortune with Michael Jackson taking them by surprise with his death like that. Fans are talking about a boycott on the concerts… maybe this one will actually happen on the first day.
The singer recently stated that he believes writing great songs is the closest thing to immortality one can hope to achieve in today’s world. Jon Bon Jovi said: “It’s the closest thing to immortality as we’re ever gonna see here.” And this comes shortly after he and his fellow writer, Richie Sambora, joined the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Well, Jon Bon Jovi does have a point, but it seems to me that Stalin doesn’t have trouble being remembered throughout history and there aren’t any jingles bearing his name that are still being sung today. It makes you wonder about the values our little “civilization” holds dear nowadays.
Jon Bon Jovi is being sued for $400 billion – yes, with a b, by a Boston musician who says that the musician allegedly borrowed lyrics from his Boston Red Sox anthem entitled ‘(Man I Really) Love This Team’. Samuel Bartley Steele, the front man for a band called The Chelsea City Council, believes that Bon Jovi heard his song while campaigning in Boston for John Kerry in 2004 and then used the lyrics in his own song entitled ‘I Love This Town’. Regardless of the result, Steele really is living on a prayer if he thinks he’s going to get that amount of cash.
