The family of the late reggae sensation Bob Marley have announced that they have struck a deal wherein the family has sold to merchandise rights to a private equity firm Hilco. That means soon we could have a Bob Marley’s name and face fronting drinks, stationary, video games, luggage and other such things.
Cedella, the late singer’s daughter said regarding the deal “we’re open to licensing just about anything” but in the same breath she says “if it is not right, we will not do it.”
This is really the best way to stop bootleggers because as well would all be aware that people all over the world are selling T-shirts and other merchandise using imprints of Bob Marley and making huge profits its about time either such people share their profit with his daughter or this equity firm as is now the case.
And if they are not ready then Cedella understands the massive value her father’s name can unlock for her and she would be stupid if she does not make money from such an opportunity.

Bob Marley’s prized guitar was set to be auctioned off at Christie’s in November. According to the guy who claims ownership, it was a big surprise. Aston Barrett, the bassist and a founding member of Bob Marley and the Wailers, has filed a lawsuit alleging that Bob gave him the guitar in question back in 1979, two years before the iconic musician died. Barrett said in 2000 that he gave the guitar to Angus Reid for safekeeping. Barrett says he was shocked when he found out that Reid put the Yamaha SG-1000 up for auction at Christie’s. Barrett wants the priceless guitar returned to him along with $50,000 for the trouble.

The estate of late reggae superstar Bob Marley is considering taking legal action to halt a deal to turn the Exodus singer’s anthems into mobile phone ringtones. Marley’s family members tell Billboard.com they plan to file suit against the Universal Music Group and Verizon Wireless over a deal accessing the reggae great’s back catalog. With all the cellphones they have now you can just hook up to your computer and make your own from mp3s and wma files. it doesn’t take a rocket scientist or national quiz master’s champion to figure it out. Love me some BM though. Give me 15 mins and I just search a few sites and have more than a dozen ringtones that are freely available on a few sites. And probably not just ringtones but a few hits from his albums too could be available on various web sites. Now just don’t sit there and wait start searching now and get your favorite tones on your cell. This picture where the iconic star is seen smoking is one of the most famous pictures of the star ever ( but it is a smoking man killing himself) yet we all like this pictures of his.
