Billy Joel and Elton John have been planning a US tour this summer but it has been cancelled due to Billy’s year long career hiatus. Their last show will be on March 11th in Albany which means that they are skipping their highly anticipated show at Wrigley Field. Elton said “As far as I know, there will be no more Billy and Elton shows after the Albany show in New York on March 11th. It’s not my decision, it’s Billy’s. He has decided to take a year off. I’m so disappointed because when we came to Wrigley Field last year… it was like playing in the church of baseball. I was so delighted to be there, and we had such a wonderful two days. It (Joel’s hiatus) doesn’t gel with my plans but he’s a friend. And as an artist, you have to respect his decision.” Considering Billy’s last few months with his divorce and his daughter being hospitalized, I understand his decision.

Billy Joel needs to pay up some long overdue money to his long time drummer Liberty DeVitto as a lawsuit has been filed against the singer. The piano man kicked his 30-year long band mate out in 2005 and now, DeVitto claims that the singer owes him unpaid royalties. The drummer confesses that he isn’t sure how much he’s due because he hasn’t been shown an accounting of album sales for about 10 years. But he commented that if Billy had taken the time to talk to him, the whole lawsuit could have been avoided. Reps for Billy say that he does not have any comments at this time.
