The official newspaper of the Vatican in Italy, L’Osservatore Romano, has listed its official top ten albums of all time and the results were quite the opposite of what you may have expected. I’ll admit to being very surprised by the choices. The Beatles’ ‘Revolver’ took the top spot. Others that made the list include Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’, Oasis’ ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’, Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, U2’s ‘Achtung Baby’, Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’, Donald Fagen’s ‘The Nightfly’, Carlos Santana’s ‘Supernatural’, Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’, and David Crosby’s ‘If I Could Only Remember My Name’. Those are definitely some surprising choices.

Although Conan O’Brien refrained from slamming NBC for his last night on the Tonight Show, the host had no problem spending the network’s money. According to The Roots’ drummer and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon house band leader Questlove, NBC paid $500,000 for Tom Hanks to walk out to The Beatles’ ‘Lovely Rita’, in honor of Tom’s wife Rita Wilson, on Friday night’s show. Questlove went on his Twitter saying “yo i hate spoiling but i will have you know that walk on song we just heard was half a milli. i know cause i got the list rate at nbc… anytime you use the beatles on tv that will cost you dearly.”

In a recent interview, Paul McCartney admitted that one of his biggest regrets of the decade was getting married to Heather Mills. The former Beatles singer said “I suppose the marriage has to be a prime contender for mistake of the decade. But I don’t want to down anyone…These things happen you know? But I tend to look at the positive side, which is that I have another beautiful daughter out of it.” His daughter Beatrice is definitely the silver lining in all of the drama that went down on this one. And speaking of Heather, I’m surprised she managed to stay out of the reality TV light for so long now.

Ringo Starr recently revealed that he received some help on his upcoming album ‘Y Not’ from his former band mate Paul McCartney. The two surviving Beatles members share vocals on the first single ‘Walk with Me’. Ringo said “Paul was doing the Grammys, so he came over to the house and was playing bass on ‘Peace Dream.’ So I played him this other track and Paul said, ‘Give me the headphones. Give me a pair of cans.’ And he went to the mike and he just invented that part where he follows on my vocal. That was all Paul McCartney, and there could be nothing better.”

Hollywood mogul Robert Zemeckis is recreating the Beatles’ ‘Yellow Submarine’ for the 3D big screen and he is crossing his fingers that surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will appear in the remake. Robert has already pitched the idea to the two musicians but he says that they “haven’t gotten the word yet on… whether they’re interested in doing it or not.” The director is adamant on continuing the remake even if the two remaining Beatles decline to sign on and says that the group has always been a “great source of inspiration” for him. If the money is right, I’m sure Paul and Ringo will bite.
