Phil Spector was left terrified after notorious murderer Charles Manson sent him a note in jail – saying he wanted to make music with the producer.

Spector – serving 19 years to life for the fatal shooting of actress Lara Clarkson – was recently transferred to the same facility as Manson.

And when the cult leader learned Spector was there, he sent him a letter.

Spector’s wife Rachelle Spector said: “A guard brought Philip a note from Manson, who said he wanted him to come over to his [lockup]. He said he considers Philip the greatest producer who ever lived. It was creepy. Philip didn’t respond.”

Manson, 74, is also being held at Corcoran State Prison, in Los Angeles, where he is serving a life sentence for conspiring to murder seven people.

He is being held in a separate wing to Be My Baby and Unchained Melody producer Spector, 69.

The cult leader was first sentenced to death in 1969 for the murders of movie star Sharon Tate, coffee heiress Abigail Folger and three others stabbed and shot to death at Tate’s LA home.

The next night, two others were stabbed to death at their homes.

Before his killing spree, Manson tried to launch a music career. And the Beach Boys ended up recording two Manson songs – one eerily titled Cease To Exist, which the group changed to Never Learn To Love.
