The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, passed away on Christmas Day 2006. It took over 2 months before the family decided to bury him. In mid July 2007, family members started pointing fingers at missing money, claiming the trustees had mismanaged funds and several million dollars were missing. The drama continued into 2008 with the singer’s older children and others questioning the legality of his 2001 marriage to Tomi Rae Hynie Brown and whether his son with her was really legitimate. After years of drama, a decision has finally been made regarding his estate. This past Tuesday, a South Carolina judge approved a settlement giving nearly half of the music man’s assets to a charitable trust. A quarter was given to his wife and youngest son and the rest to his 6 adult kids.

One Response to “Decision Reached on James Brown Estate”

  1. Mr. James Brown Esq. has passed away. He attained a lot considering his poor background and now he struggled for his children not to suffer as he did, in poverty. Thus, he laid a foundation for his children. His wealth should be shared among his children. Where, were those who are now fighting for his wealth, when james was a destitute and was called all names in America at the time. You find all the wealth in the world, you will die and leave it here on earth. If man should be going with all these material things, then it will be worth fighting for. You die and leave everything here. You came naked you die naked. Please allow the soul of brother James Brown to lie in peace. May his soul rest in peace.
