Grammy-nominated gospel musician David ‘Pop’ Winans Sr. died on Wednesday in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 76. Pop was known as one half of the gospel duo ‘Mom and Pop Winans’ with his wife Delores. Their album ‘Mom & Pop Winans’ was nominated for a Grammy in 1989 and he was nominated again for a solo effort in 1999. Pop also fathered a family of musicians; daughters BeBe and CeCe Winans recorded the hit singles ‘Addictive Love’ and ‘I’ll Take You There’, and sons Michael, Marvin, Carvin and Ronald, known at The Winans, recorded ‘Ain’t No Need to Worry’. The family released a statement regarding the death saying “The Winans family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and continued support, but would appreciate privacy at this time.”
