The famous “Take that” singer encountered much difficulty on the first day of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro because of the great back pains he has from an accident when he was training for the climb. Talk about irony. Gary Barlow’s backpack was carried in turns by the other members of the expedition which was organized for charity purposes. This is what Gary Barlow said about the beginning of the noble quest: “It’s very steep and I’m having to use two poles for my back – but I’m told it will loosen up after the first day’s climb. We only walked for four hours today because of the intense heat and steep incline.” The only thing that puzzles me about all of this is how can you raise money by having a bunch of celebrities climbing a mountain? Are they ensured or something and if a tragic event occurs the organizers cash in the check? And in that case, how much would Gary Barlow go for?
