Lynyrd Skynyrd Keyboardist Passes

Billy Powell, the former Lynyrd Skynyrs roadie turned keyboardist, passed away early Wednesday morning in Jacksonville, Florida. He was 56 years old. There has yet to be any reason for the death given to the public. The band posted a note on their website about his passing saying “A Great Loss — Beloved Pianist for the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, Billy Powell, passed away last night. We will post more info shortly. The family and band request your respect and understanding during this difficult time. Thank you.” Billy’s memory will live on so long as Lynyrd Skynyrd’s music lives on. May he rest in peace.
