Carolina Chocolate Drops

“The most important folk group to emerge from Boston since the early ‘60s.” —Boston Globe “The Carolina Chocolate Drops are the hottest thing to hit the old-time music community in decades.” —NPR’s Weekend Edition

Drawing from bluegrass, old-time and contemporary folk, Crooked Still redefines traditional music. This hot young group creates a stellar combination of driving, earthy grooves and soaring, heavenly vocals. Aoife O’Donovan (vocals), Rushad Eggleston (cello), Greg Liszt (banjo), and Corey DiMario (double bass) put out a low, lonesome sound that is simultaneously virtuosic and heartfelt. The Carolina Chocolate Drops, a wildly talented trio that revitalizes the old-time string band traditions of the black Piedmont. I think that the world still has enough room for all music forms to survive and I truly do believe that Carolina Chocolate Drops can pull of a stunner with this stage show of theirs’. There is reserved sitting and the tickets are priced fairly at $22 and $28 at Sanders Theatre.
