Bob Marley Estate Plans Lawsuit Over Ringtone Deal
The estate of late reggae superstar Bob Marley is considering taking legal action to halt a deal to turn the Exodus singer’s anthems into mobile phone ringtones. Marley’s family members tell Billboard.com they plan to file suit against the Universal Music Group and Verizon Wireless over a deal accessing the reggae great’s back catalog. With all the cellphones they have now you can just hook up to your computer and make your own from mp3s and wma files. it doesn’t take a rocket scientist or national quiz master’s champion to figure it out. Love me some BM though. Give me 15 mins and I just search a few sites and have more than a dozen ringtones that are freely available on a few sites. And probably not just ringtones but a few hits from his albums too could be available on various web sites.
