French leader honours Streisand

American singer Barbra Streisand has received France’s highest civilian honour, two days after performing her first concert in the country. French President Nicolas Sarkozy presented the star with the Legion of Honour at a ceremony in Paris. Recent honorary recipients of the Legion d’honneur include Clint Eastwood and Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. But when nations like France recognize artist like her the recent past record and the share of controversy should also be taken into account. If the reports regarding the reason behind the cancellation of her show’s in Europe because of the tickets be very highly priced are true then such artist shouldn’t be given such an honour. The singer told the recently elected leader he reminded her of former US presidents John F Kennedy and Bill Clinton, “who appreciated art and recognized the importance of the arts in the world”.
